   Dance Etiquette

Dancing with a variety of people with different skill levels will improve your own dance skills as a leader or a follower. It is considered poor etiquette to partner up with the same person all night.

Always thank your partner after dancing.

Good hygiene shows respect and consideration of your partners.

Dance in the line of dance. The outside lane is for more experienced dancers.

Rhythm (non traveling ) dances like WCS, ECS, Salsa etc should be danced away from line of dance (middle of dance floor).

It is solely the leader's responsibility to be aware of other dancers to avoid collisions, especially when moving backwards. If you do collide, apologize.

NEVER offer criticism of your dance partner's technique unless asked.

It is perfectly acceptable to turn down a request to dance or to terminate a dance for fear of injury, bad dance etiquette or boorish behavior, but not for a skill level beneath your own.

Adjust the size of your dance steps and the size of your dance elements to your dance environment: if the floor is small or crowded, take smaller steps and execute more compact dance elements.
